Welcome back to school! I hope you all a great summer and enjoyed the lovely weather, though it all seems such a long time ago already... there's definitely been a feeling of Autumn in the air in the mornings this week. On behalf of all staff can I say 'Thank you' for all the lovely cards and gifts that we received at the end of last term - they are all very much appreciated.
As you will no doubt have noticed we have a number of new staff - Mr Young joins us in Class 4; he is from Stratford and his interests are Maths, Science, ICT and sport, and you will know that he has taken over Running Club from Mrs Halderthay this week. Mrs Fern has moved as a TA from Class 1 and now supports learning in Key Stage 2. In Class 1 we have 2 new TAs - Miss Pearl and Miss Phillips, who are also covering some lunchtime duties. Miss Lewis re-joins the school to resume teaching Spanish to Key Stage 2 and it is good to have her back. We also have a couple of changes in personnel from Onside Coaching, and a swap around of days. One of the new coaches, Mr Hibberd (Mondays) used to be in my class about 12 years ago and I remember him well - he always did enjoy PE! Its always good to hear of former pupils' achievements, and reminds me of why we do the job everyday.
Thank you to all staff who spent time in the holidays preparing their classrooms and getting ready for the new term. Special thanks also must go the family of Eleanor and Daniel, who gave up some of their holidays to re-mark the lines and games on the playground - this is hugely appreciated and has renewed the interest of the children at playtimes. And also to Mia's dad who kindly spent a day setting up our new speakers and microphones which have been funded by the grant generously provided by the 2017 Snitterfield Fete Committee.
Hopefully you will all have seen the term dates that Mrs Carless has sent out - our aim of course being to give you as much notice as possible of events. Can I draw your attention to our Parents' Internet Safety' event on the 20th November which I mentioned at the end of last term. This will form part of our parents' programme of events and workshops over the year, starting next week with our welcome meetings on Wednesday. If you would like to suggest a subject that parents might appreciate some extra help with, please let me know - all suggestions will be considered.
Class 1 have had a wonderful first full week and coped
really well with the full days. Lots of smiling faces around
school and growing in confidence every day. Photos to
follow in the next newsletter (the ipad let me down tonight!).
The Y6 and Reception Buddy system has, as always, worked
very well. Y6's have taken on their responsibilities beautifully
and Reception children look to be having a fantastic time with the older children.
Class 2 have been busy celebrating the works of Roald Dahl and on Thursday the theme for the day was James and the Giant Peach. All children enjoyed big juicy peaches (shiny face photos to come) and a wonderful day getting to know more about one of Roald Dahl's most popular books.

- All clubs for each term, along with events and important dates, are now posted to the site and also on the Schoolzine app and, if you didn't know already, you are able to synchronise any events that interest you, from either the website or the app, to most phones.
- Class pages will be updated each half-term with a selection of photos showing the childrens' learning experiences (this half-terms to come).

We have quite a few children in school with severe nut allergies and some with very specific dietary needs. For the safety of our children, we ask that all parents respect the following guidelines:
- Do not send your child(ren) in with any snacks containing nuts. Please remember that most chocolate spreads contain nuts of some variety!
- For birthdays, you are very welcome to send in cakes or treats for the class however they will be handed out to their friends at the end of school, rather than the children eating the cakes-treats during school time. This is because each childs Health Care Plans must be adhered to at all times and any additional food consumed during the day could put some of our children at risk.
