We want all our children to leave Snitterfield as curious, inspired young people who have a sense of their own self-worth and are able to contribute positively to society.
Dear Families,
Welcome Back!
It has been so lovely to welcome the children and staff back into school after the summer holidays and to have our new Reception children starting today. The children have delved straight back into learning with each class studying the same book: The Journey by Aaron Becker. It has been wonderful to see how the classes have interpreted the same book and the different learning opportunities the teachers have drawn out are exciting and challenging. I am looking forward to seeing the work displayed around school over the coming weeks.
There are some new adult faces around school too and I would like to officially welcome Miss Malcolm (our new Office Manager), Mrs Nash (Class 2 teacher, Monday-Wednesday), Mrs Hope (TA in Reception in the mornings and in Class 3 in the afternoons). They all appear to have settled in quickly and it feels as if they have been part of the team for ages!
We began the year on Wednesday, with a whole school assembly revisiting our school vision and our six Character Strengths. I have to say, I was so impressed that the children could remember all the strengths and I think that shows we are really living out our values – I could not wish for more and look forward to continuing and building on this great start! I wonder if they can remember them at home too?
Today we held another school assembly where we marked the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II. We shared some milestones from her life and her reign and celebrated what an inspiration she has been in her service of the country. We considered how her family may be feeling and our thoughts turned to our new king, Charles III. The children were very respectful and I am sure they will have questions that they may want to discuss at home.
I’d also like to say a big thank you for the many kind gifts given to either the staff team as a whole, or individual teachers at the end of the year. Your generosity and thoughtfulness was very appreciated.
Finally, thank you for returning such keen learners back to us; we look forward to this year’s journey with you and the children.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Silk
