From the Head of School - 21 July 2022
Dear families,
We have made it through a whole school year with no national lockdowns or extended closures and we have even managed to welcome parents and carers back into school! I hope this is the last time I feel it necessary to celebrate such matters and that this really is us being able to return to what we once thought of as “normal”.
Well, we have had a busy end to the term: sports’ day, school trips out to All things Wild, and Anglo-Saxon visitor to school, open afternoon, Class 4’s production of a Midsummer night’s dream and the leavers’ assembly! Not to mention all the work that goes on behind the scenes of teaching, learning, reports, and handovers ready for September! Please do look at the photographs of all these events.
We say goodbye to Year 6, always bitter sweet, and wish them all the best as they move onto high school. They are ready - even if they don’t quite feel it yet! They have been an excellent year group, demonstrating our school values consistently and being fantastic buddies; we will miss them. Year 5, these are tough shoes to step into, but I know you will fill them admirably.
I’d like to openly thank all the staff for their hard work across the year, to run a school is a real team effort and I couldn’t do it without them. A well-earned rest is around the corner. We say goodbye to Mrs Chamberlain, Miss Hughes Jones and Miss Pearl - all of whom are off to pursue new and exciting times. Thank you for your team contributions and we wish you well, hopefully we will hear how you are all getting on!
I am sure you all have some lovely plans for the holidays. Whether these are trips abroad; a staycation in Britain; or a selection of day trips and activities to enjoy as a family, I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy the time together. I am off on an adventure of my own that was meant to happen pre-Covid. I am travelling to Uganda with a charity called Street Child. I will be there working for two weeks to help support and train teachers in an infant school in Kampala and support children in a refugee camp who need to be ready to start more formal schooling. I am very excited and a little nervous as I do not know anyone I am going with and have never done anything like this before! I am sure however, that I will learn a great deal out there myself whilst helping the adults and children that live and learn there. I hope to forge links that I can foster with our own school and maybe get pen pals organised and broaden our “Community awareness” beyond our own continent. I will let you all know how it went in September!
Thank you for your continued support of school and your children’s education. It is a journey we take together and I have enjoyed working with the children, staff and yourselves all year. Have a wonderful summer!
Best wishes,
Rowena Silk
Manor Adventure Trip
The weekend was enjoyed by everyone with several activities and tasks for them to have a go at. There were several events that challenged our group but they all came through and completed everything they were shown.

School Play 2022
This year Class 4 performed a musical version of 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream'. They had four weeks to prepare and went from completely confused to a premier performance troupe. Well done to all who took part, I hope everyone who attended was suitably entertained.
And also......
We baked cakes (we also finished working on our class reading book The Spiderwick Chronicles but that isn’t nearly as interesting):
Class 1 and 2 have been learning all about ‘The Animal Kingdom’ and went to All Things Wild to culminate our learning theme. We saw life sized dinosaurs, learnt about life cycles and had a wonderful day discovering and enhancing our learning.
The children were impeccably behaved and were a credit to you and our school.
