Dear Families,
Well, another half term is completed and it has been a very busy one and one full of hard work – especially for Year 6 and Year 2 who have now completed all their SATS. As I sit in my office this morning, I am surrounded by silence throughout the school. School is always a strange place when there are no children and it never ceases to amaze me how a place becomes alive because of the people that use it and fill it. Our children (and staff) certainly bring this place to life and remind us constantly why we are here and the core, primary reasons for all the decision making that goes on.
Yesterday, school was most definitely alive as we celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee. The children, and staff, all looked magnificent in their red, white and blue attire and it was wonderful to share the learning the children have completed over the course of the week linked to Queen Elizabeth, Britain and the Commonwealth. We were treated to dances from each class and some wonderful music from Evie, Rosa and Sophie during assembly and the children participated in a variety of activities on the field in their houses in the afternoon. I have put some photographs together in a separate area of the newsletter so please take a look.
As is usual at the end of a half term, we celebrated another of our character strengths – this term it was Reflection. The children chosen by the staff who have demonstrated this consistently across both academic studies and the wider school life are: Daisy, Freddie, Flynn, Lottie, Jacob, Joel and Alice. Congratulations to them all for developing this character strength and recognising where changes can be made and where those changes will help to improve whatever aspect of school life they relate to. Wear your purple badges with pride!
I’d like to take this opportunity to pass on a quick thank you to some parents who recently helped build several flat-pack pieces of furniture for Class 2 and Class 3’s book corners: thank you Mr and Mrs Queralt, Mr Mayo, Mr Colagiovanni and Mr Moran. It was very much appreciated by the staff and I know the children are all, already, really keen to have their turn in these new areas. This was definitely the desired response as we further promote a love of reading across the school.
We have a busy end of year coming up and there is a separate notice of upcoming events for your diaries – I do hope you will be able to join us at school for some of them. I think all that is left to do is to thank you for your continued support of school and the children’s learning and wish you all an enjoyable and restful half term holiday – at least at this moment the sun is shining!
With best wishes,
Mrs Rowena Silk

Dear Parents, Carers & Children.
Just a little note to say thank you soo much for the very generous gift you gave to me when I left school last term. It was a wonderful gesture and I am genuinely touched by your kindness. I have used the gift to buy myself the most ridiculously cool pair of sun glasses (Aviators natch!) and they are engraved with the two words I will forever associate with my time in the Office… “Mr Berry..?”
Thanks to you all.
Wayne (AKA Mr Berry)
Dates for your diaries
With the half term here, and the end of year already looking busy, I would like to take this opportunity to share some upcoming dates. After what seems a very long time, I am pleased to say that some of these are finally in person and we look forward to welcoming you back into the school building!
Transition Day
Wednesday July 6th will be our “move up morning”, where the children will spend the morning with their new class teacher in their new classroom.
Sports’ Day
We will be holding our Sports’ Day on Monday 11th July in the afternoon and you are welcome to come and cheer the children on as they participate.
Class 4 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream
There will be an afternoon dress rehearsal on Wednesday 13th July for all the children in school to enjoy.
There will be an evening performance on Thursday 14th July when families of Class 4 will be invited to come and enjoy the play.
School Open Afternoon
On Thursday 14th July you are all invited into school in the afternoon to see what your children have been learning all year. Your child(ren)’s books will be available and your child will share with you what they have been learning. Although the staff will obviously be around this is not a parents’ consultation event. There are no set timings for each class so if you have more than one child in school you can move between classes when you are ready.
School Reports
As last year, we will send out the pupils’ school reports via email (on Friday 15th July). Given the very positive feedback on last year’s format, the reports will be completed in the same way. As last year, if, after you have read the report you would like to discuss it, we ask you to contact the office on Monday 18th July. An appointment will be sent to you for Wednesday 20th July between 3.30 and 7pm.
Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly
This is open to parents of Year 6 only and will be held on the morning of the last day, Thursday 21st July at 9.15am.
It may seem a long way off, but I know these things have a habit of creeping up on us! So please, if you are able to join us for the relevant occasions, put a note in your diaries.
With best wishes,
Mrs Silk

DINNER MONEY
We would request that you check your ParentPay account and make a payment to cover any outstanding dinner money owing. In order for your child to continue to receive school lunches it is important to keep your account in credit. Our Federation position is that we are unable to supply meals when outstanding debts reach £50 and will then ask for children to be provided with packed lunches until the arrears are paid off in full. We will email a reminder of this should your account reach £30 debt.
