Dear Families,
The end of term is upon us and I cannot believe it! When did Christmas get so close? I hope you are all more organised than I feel!
We have had another busy half term in school (albeit not the one I had hoped for in regard to performances) and the children continue to shine in their own ways. For this month’s newsletter I have borrowed from a well-loved poem by Clement Clarke Moore…
‘Twas the start of the holidays and all through the school,
Not a teacher was stirring, not one was a fool.
The children had left and gone home for a break;
And the teachers were ready too, make no mistake!
The doors were shut and the lights turned down low,
In the hope of some rest and a cosy fire glow.
The cards were all made and the calendars prepared
The joys of glue and sparkles well and truly shared!
The glitter still clung to the new carpet tiles
In Class 3 and Class 4 it’ll be there a while
The tinsel and trees stood proud in the school
With occasional elves breaking the rules.
The children have worked hard for the whole term
With plenty to do and even more to learn;
Their brains need a break and their heads a rest
So, enjoy time together in the way you see best.
As the last child and teacher leave the school hall,
I would just like to say, “Happy Christmas to all!”
This year, as you know, we have been developing specific character strengths in school namely: resilience, community awareness, respect, reflection, curiosity and honesty. In our end of term assembly, we celebrated children from each year group who had demonstrated the strengths of resilience or community awareness over the whole term (no mean achievement!) These children were awarded a coloured badge to represent the strength they had shown and should wear their badges with pride.
This term we celebrated Jude, Dexter, Isabelle, Maisie, Harry, Mia and Max for demonstrating resilience and Felicity, Alissya, Freddie, Tommy, Noah, Evie and Esme for showing their community awareness.
Next term we will be looking for children who display honesty and curiosity to celebrate.
With best wishes for a merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year,
Mrs Silk
- Anyone identifed as a close contact of a PCR confirmed positive case now needs to lateral flow test daily for 7 days, and can only attend school if the test is negative (tests should be reported online and the result forwarded to school). They are no longer being asked to take precautionary PCR tests and remain off school until proof of a negative test is received.
Hopefully, this will make things a little bit easier and less stressful going forward...
Back to Christmas! On Tuesday we feasted on our Christmas Lunch - the staff joined the children in a beautiful (though sadly 'sprout-free') traditional Turkey lunch.
The Christmas Fayre at the Church was a great afternoon - lovely to see so many of you there! - thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to make it such a success. Particular thanks to the children who ran stalls and performed beautifully for our entertainment - including our Clarinet Quartet pictured below...
It just remains for me to remind you that school will reopen on WEDNESDAY 5th JANUARY 2022, and to wish you all a peaceful, restful and joyful Christmas and all the very best for the New Year!
Mr Berry (aka Wayne)
Monday 6th December saw us play host to The West Midlands Childrens Theatre and their production of "Jack and the Beanstalk". (Oh! no it didn't!) Oh! Yes it did! The children had a great time and really got into the spirit of audience participation (Oh! No they didn't!) Oh! Yes they did!
Year 6's resident Theatre Critics, Meisha and Esme gave this review:
"On Monday we had a pantomime and it was the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. They had two puppet birds that told the storyand th echaracters were brilliant, they explained everything! Even better we got to sit in the hall and watch it all together!!
We thought the show was very and the characters got the audience to join in. At the Beanstalk part it looked like they were actually climbing it! The younger ones especially enjoyed it as they thought it was very funny at parts."
Our Rating 9/10 stars.
FEDERATION "CAROLS IN THE COLD"
Report by Year 6 Class Reporters, Esme & Meisha:
On Wednesday, Miss Barnett and Mr Berry accompanied The School Council (minus Ben in Yr 6 - who was very much missed!) to The Stratford Foodbank.
After dropping off your generous donations the councillors were given a tour of the facility and asked some really thoughtful and incisive questions. They were great ambassadors for the school and the visit has inspired the School Council to continue to promote support for the Foodbank, particularly in the post-Christmas period, when they are often running low on supplies. We even bumped into a familiar face amongst the volunteers at the Foodbank - those of you who have been involved with the school a while now might recognise Mrs Hollowell!
Class One have have another super busy month. Forest School was particularly exciting as they discovered the Elf's House!
Class Two got double-bubble Forest School this month! They made leaf rubbings, natural Golf Courses and obstacle courses for squirrels!
Today we bid a tearful farewell (or hopefully "see you soon!") to the fabulous Mrs Brettell... Class 2 made this tribute to her.
I don't know how Class Three do it! Its always a flurry of activity in there! This month they have been making balls for Ugg the Stone Age boy using tie-dye and enjoying the great outdoors at Forest School!
Like the rest of the school, Class 4 had the chance to get outside with Forest School and they have also had a 'Mayan Day' where they made Mayan/Mexican foods and crafts. Pictures below...
Here is Class Reporters Meisha and Esme's report on their recent work:
"In Class 4 we have been learning how to make collages. We all had to sketch a picture and decorate it using our collaging skills. Today we have made calendars. We had to draw a tree and then decorate it using our collaging skills and making sure we represent the Four Seasons.
On Wednesday we finished our class book "Middleworld" that we have been using our skills to write about. Next term we will start a new book "Treason Black Powder".
Let’s reduce our waste this Christmas (and reduce our own waists in the New Year!)
Warwickshire Recycles have lots of tips for us to help think about how we can end the year in as environmentally friendly manner as possible - please see their information below.

If you are having a clear-out of your wardrobes and drawers in the New Year please don’t forget that school has a clothes recycling bin in the carpark which helps raise money for the school. Clothes need to be in bags (not bin liners though as they are difficult to get through the shoot) and please don’t put an bric-a-brac in or duvets/pillows as these are to accepted. If the bin is full please let us know at school and we can arrange a collection - bags left beside the bin may get wet and won’t be collected, ending up in landfill.
Thank you for helping to make our planet a better place for our children.
Happy Christmas!
