Dear Parents & Carers,
As we are nearing the end of term we want to say a BIG thank you for all your support during these difficult times we are living in.
In keeping with the government’s guidance, we have been continuing to work hard to provide our children with opportunities for learning and to keep our school community safe. It remains vitally important that we all maintain social distancing and wear a face covering. These simple measures, together with regular handwashing, remain the best way to keep us all safe.
All schools have been working closely with the Warwickshire County Council’s education and public health teams, and we have acted on the advice we receive. I would like to thank our classroom staff for doing a truly remarkable job to keep children safe and well, and to maintain a focus upon providing a high quality of education that will have an impact far beyond the current tough times we are living through.
I know that a positive test among the staff group has caused many of you to have concerns this past week, particularly because of the time of year. I appreciate that emotions are high but it is important to be clear that the school is very unlikely to be the source of transmission and that we have been extremely fortunate to get this far without a case to report.
However, we would like to thank all our parents for keeping school fully informed about all potential Covid symptoms and tests and for helping to protect our school community. Please do continue to keep school updated over the holiday period, in accordance with the app notification sent out to all parents yesterday. Pupil and staff safety, as always, remains paramount and we will continue to work tirelessly, doing everything we can to keep our school as safe as possible for all.
Thank you once again for your continued support during these difficult times.
I would like to wish all the staff and children, and all of you, a very Merry Christmas and can't wait to see you all again in the New Year!
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Plaskitt
Hello from The (home) Office!
Well this certainly hasn't been the end of term I was expecting! Its been very strange not being in school this week and I've missed out on all the Christmas fun! I have especially missed not being able to wish the children a very Merry Christmas in person - so please pass on the message for me!!
I have a liitle festive news to report. The FOSS Christmas Lights Anagram trail winners were drawn today and the lucky recipients of those delicious lollies were: KS1 - Elizabeth P and Harrison; KS2 - Evie, Esme and Noah H. Enjoy! The Christmas Hamper raffle was also drawn this morning and was won by George in Class 3 - congratulations and happy munching!
I will send out the School Calendar for the Spring Term once I'm back in the office - but please remember that School re-opens on TUESDAY 5th January! (Monday is a teacher training day) and as things stand KS2 swimming lessons will be going ahead from Wednesday 13th January - more details will follow once I'm back at my desk!
I will still be accepting old laptops for donation to Laptops4Learners after the Christmas break, so if you do decide to get rid of any old computers, (perhaps Father Christmas is bringing an upgrade...) send them into the office and I will pass them on to this excellent organisation for reconditioning and reuse.
Before sign off, I would like to pay tribute and thanks to my colleagues for all the magnificent work they have done in keeping the school running so happily and for keeping everyone safe. It has been inspiring to work alongside such a dedicated and hardworking group of people!
Thank you for all your co-operation too. I wish you and your families a healthy, restful and joyous Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in 2021!
Stay safe!
Mr Berry (aka Wayne)
Christmas lunch was served to pupils and staff on Tuesday. It was a bit different this year, served in bubbles in the dining room, but thanks to our magnificent kithcen staff - Lucy and Jacqui, and our ace Midday Supervisor - Sharon - a great time was had by all!
Christmas Crafternoons returned to the school this week and the building resounded to the snip of scissors, the scratch of pencils, the squeak of felt tips and the... erm... squelch...of gluesticks on paper! Class 2 even made outdoor art reindeers!
