Hello everyone,
I do hope that everyone is well and coping ok with the continuing situation.
Here at school things are moving on and we have had a pretty good take up of places from the currently eligible groups - we have around a third of the children in on most days now. We are pleased to be able to share some of our activities with you - please see information below from each class.
Today all families should have received the annual report from the admin email account - please check your inboxes and get back to me if you haven't received them. We are only sending electronic copies out this year so please make sure that you save them.
As we march towards the summer break we are planning for a couple of nice joint events that we hope everyone will participate in - a virtual sports day and our usual Arts Week. We'll be asking children to complete some sporty activities, record their scores and send in so that we add them to the scores in school. For Art we are aiming to plan for the sort of materials you have easily avialable at home. More detail will come out next week and we will try to make sure that those of you at home are able to join in - maybe we'll be able to share an online gallery of the children's work which would be nice.
This morning we've welcomed some of our new Reception children into school for a short session and it was nice to see some new faces - we hope to be able to offer another session in a couple of weeks so that the children feel confident to join us in September.
I expect that many of you are wondering what school will look like in September - as ever we await government guidance across many areas. We know that you will want to know as soon as possible so please be assured that we are already tentatively planning for September and will share our plans once we have finalised them. In the menatime, things are continuing here as normal with the 2 metre rule until the end of term.
I will be in touch next week about plans for the final week of term when we will hopefully be able to offer a day in school for Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. The logistics of this are quite complicated so please bear with me on this!
Have a great weekend.

It has been absolutely wonderful to have the children back in class. We have particularly enjoyed seeing the children play and interact with one another since being in school. We have been keeping cool by using the water tray and playing in our Ice Cream Shop.
The children have settled back into the routines quickly and with smiles on their faces.
Parents have done a super job with the home learning and Mrs Varley and I are most impressed. Thank you all for keeping up with it – have any of you considered a career change?!
In Class 2 we have been enjoying the sunshine. We have taken the sunflowers out of their pots and planted them. We have also planted our bean plants. They need lots of water in this hot weather! We had a great time picking the beans that had grown and sampled the strawberries that had ripened.
Miss Barnett, Mrs Brettell and Miss Pearl spent a lovely morning in the pond area with the children pond dipping and doing habitat activities to enhance our Science learning. Have a look at the photos we took. In the classroom we have started making our habitat boxes and researching further about our chosen habitat. The children are excited to add the different features and creatures.
At the beginning of this week the children were doing abstract art which had been inspired by Jackson Pollock and his drip painting. They loved doing this as it involved lots of big movements, flicking and dripping of paint. It has been so lovely to have more children back in Class 2. We have been so impressed with their social distancing and enthusiasm for learning after being off for so long. The other members of Class 2 who are not in school are really missed and we can't wait to see them again!
