FROM THE EXECUTIVE HEADS OFFICE
Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly a big 'Thank You' to all of you who came along to meetings over the last couple of weeks with your children's classteachers. I know all staff enjoyed the opportunity to be able to share your children's progress and attainment with you.
Thank you also for your patience and support last week during the unexpected flooding situation. It really was a strange couple of days. Thankfully we seemed to have closed at the right time as the roads became worse as the afternoon wore on, and it was good to hear that the water didn't actually reach the school gates.
Some of you will have seen that the old ICT space has now been refurbished and is now providing a great small group space for Class 4. Our new laptops are expected to arrive shortly and will be installed onto our network next week, so hopefully we'll soon be online faster. In addition we've applied for a grant to buy a number of iPads, so more children can benefit from improved devices.
By the time you read this 3 classes will have been on their school trip - Class 4 to CadburyWorld, Class 1 to Play Village and Class 3 to Ryton Pools. Class 2 go to Warwick Castle in December. FOSS's agreement to subsidise class curriculum trips is enabling all our children to access these valuable opportunities linked to their learning; so please continue to support FOSS events as much as you can.
Best Regards,
Mrs Plaskitt

CLASS 1: Cuteness Alert...First School Trip!!
Class 1 had an amazing morning out of school last week visiting Warwicks Play Village.
They were doctors, vets, teachers, hair dressers, make up artists, shop keepers, builders, police and performers - what a busy morning!
I think Miss Findlay may have a little apprentice in the making... take a look at all the children having fun:
CLASS 3: Back to the Stone Age trip!
What a fabulous day out Class 3 had at Ryton Pools yesterday. They behaved impeccably which was recognised by all the staff there as well as members of the general public.
We looked at Stone Age artefacts and had a quiz where the children excelled with their historical knowledge. Then we’re given the challenge to make a foraging bag to collect ingredients to make our paint. This would enable them to create Stone Age paintings. Next we sent on a walk around the site foraging for natural resources to use to make our paint. We returned to the classroom and then made our own Stone Age paintbrushes out of hazelwood by bashing one end with hammer. They were amazing!
After our well earned lunch, we went in to the forest den to build our shelters and create our paintings. All the children worked together in teams and were brilliant at creating shelters and cave paintings.
It was one of the best school trips I have ever done in my teaching career and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Thank you Miss Phillips. Mrs Holt, Mrs Burman, Mr Berry and Mr Gisbourne for your valued help with the children.
I would also like to make a special thank you to Mrs Carless for all her hard work in ensuring the trip went ahead. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Many Thanks,
A very proud Mrs Worland.
Lots of lovely photos of the children enjoying the day:
CLASS 4: Trip to Cadbury's World
Class 4 recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to Cadbury's World where they made chocolate, experienced a Mayan workshop and a fantastic speaker and came home with three yummy chocolate bars. What wasn't to like?!
CLASS 1: Learning about Celebration
This term Mrs Croucher is exploring the topic of 'celebration' and the children have been learning about the Jewish harvest festival or Succot - the children have been busy making their own Sukkah's, see the gallery below with all their wonderful creations.
Class 1 are flying through their learning goals and, this week, they have been further consolidating their maths and enjoying a music lesson.
Our Annual Christmas Fayre is being held on Saturday 7th December from 2-4pm.
This year we are hosting in the every the event in school and we want to make it better than ever!!! To do this we really need your help!
Every year our pick a bottle stall is extremely busy and popular. Please can we ask you to donate a bottle or 2, alcoholic or non alcoholic to help run this stall. Boxes will be in the playground from Monday so you can pop your donation in or alternatively pass them into the school office.
We would also love any unwanted gifts or good condition toys (please no broken or old toys) for the big tombola. This is another really popular stall so the more items we have the better So go on have a clear out! Boxes will be in the playground from Monday!
Thank you to everyone who has filled their sweet cups, they all look fantastic, if you havent had the opportunity to fill one up, dont worry there is still time!
I understand that we are asking for a few things so I just would like to say thank you in advance for anything you can give. It really is appreciated!

"SPONSORED READ" BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED!!
Remember the AMAZING FOSS organised sponsored reading/listening that Faye Kenning (FOSS) organised for the children did last term?!
Well the total raised £733.89 was combined with the 60% additional donation from Usborne to make a whopping £1174.22! that has been spent on beautiful new books: some fiction some non, some topic related and the children can't wait to get stuck into them!
Head boy and Head girl will be stamping the books with the School stamper (a job many aspire to have!) and then they will be distributed out to the relevant class rooms and library shelves.
All this was raised from just 19 children taking part - well done everyone!

TOILET TWINNING: Flushing Away Poverty
Last year Snitterfield School Eco Group committee worked hard to raise £120 to twin two of our school toilets. The £120 will help some of the world's poorest people have basic essentials in life such as a toilet, clean water and hygeine education.
We were twinned with toilets in Kabaya, Democratic Republic of Congo and our certificates have arrived in school and will be on display in the boys and girls toilets - well done everyone!
If you want to find out more about toilet twinning (an ideal Christmas present without plastic!) please have a look at their website HERE.
After half-term, Class 4 had another Forest School session and managed to get out scavenger hunting. Here are a few pic's from their morning:
Class 4 recently performed a sharing assembly to parents who were able to come and watch. They showcased a wide variety of work including flip chart model sketches, accounts and comic strips amongst other work.
Here are a few pic's from the session:
XMAS SHOE BOXES: Off to Eastern Europe
Thank you to everyone who filled a Christmas Shoe Box for the Teams4U charity this year.
With your help, school has managed to provide 45 boxes which are now on their way to the poorest children in Eastern Europe.
They have just been collected and put in a van with 700 other shoe boxes which have been collected from other schools in the area!!!
We invited parents to come and share a roast dinner with their children this week and we welcoming a record 44 parents to school.
Thank you to all the staff that helped out to make it run as smoothly as possible and to the kitchen staff who did an amazing job.
CHILDREN IN NEED DAY: A big Thank You
Thank you all very much for your support last Thursday on our Children-in-Need day which unfortunately had to be slightly curtailed due to the floods.
However, the rain did not dampen the childrens enthusiasm the next day, nor the staff's, as we 'warmed up' to Joe Wix's live HIIT workout with hundreds of schools across the nation.
With your generosity school managed to raise £124.70 towards the charity.
The School Council led the workout at the front of the hall as the children followed along:
Gardening Club
Despite the weather the school garden club have managed to get together a few times this term and have been tidying up the leaves as well as planting sweet peas and garlic ready for next year. We will probably put the garden to bed for winter in the next week or so but will be back again in the Spring.
Eco-Group
Our new school Eco Group committee have met a few times this term and have decided to take part in ‘Switch off Fortnight”. We have been surveying how many electrical items there are in school, how many lights are in use (and some that could be turned off) and will be monitoring our energy use before and after the fortnight, once we have checked when school are happy for us to run it - more information to follow on how you too can be involve at home and save energy.
