FROM THE EXECUTIVE HEADS OFFICE
Welcome to our latest Newsletter. Spring is showing signs of arriving and we are all looking forward to the Easter break in 3 weeks.
I'm so pleased to be able to tell you some really good news - following 18 months of hard work behind the scenes, Snitterfield School has been awarded the Soil Association's Food For Life Bronze award! Those of you with older children will know that much work has gone into improving the lunchtime dining experience over the past couple of years. In addition we were able to gain credit for the existing work done at Gardening Club - so many many thanks must go to Hilary Schmidt Hansen and others for their commitment to continue their growing activities across the school.
Unfortunately the Warwickshire support for the scheme ends at the end of this month. We would like to continue onto the Silver award in the near future, but in the meantime the last event in our Food For Life participation takes place next Thursday, the 28th March at 6.30pm. Valerie Meehan, our Food For Life consultant will be delivering the latest in our schedule of parent information sessions. The session will cover;
- Healthy eating as a family
- Providing a healthy lunchbox
- Managing fussy eaters - addressing neophobia (the fear of new foods)
Please come along and support us.
Best Wishes,
Mrs Plaskitt

FROM CLASS 1: PEOPLE WHO HELP US DAY
Thanks to Mr McGreavy, Leyla's Dad, for helping us organise a fantastic visit from the local Fire Brigade.
The children (and staff) were treated to a very fun and informative visit from from a fire crew and their engine! They started the day with a short session on road safety which was then followed by an exploration of the fire engine and its equipment and they even set their siren off as they left!
We had so many calls into school that morning, from concerned villagers and passers by, wondering where all the cars were and why the engine was on site! Take a look at the fantastic photosfrom the day:
Mrs Roberts has had Class 3 working hard conducting scientific tests to work out what elements plants need to grow successfully. They made predicitions about what will happen without certain factors, one plant was placed in the fridge, some in plastic bags and some in darkness etc. This week, their experiments have come to an end and they have been analysing the results, whilst at the same time understanding what a fair test is.
FROM CLASS 4: SHARING ASSEMBLY
WET PLAY EQUIPMENT REFRESH: THANK YOU FOSS
FOSS are currently in the process of refreshing our stock of 'wet play' equipment that the children play with in the hall on rainy days. They've already bought new paper, pencils and building equipment and are keen to buy more things for the children to play with.
School plans to ask the children what they would else they would like to have (within reason!) in one of the assemblies next week and review what we currently still have in working order and what else can be thrown away!
THANK YOU FOSS!
ECO GROUP ASSEMBLY: WARWICKSHIRE AMPHIBIANS AND REPTILES TRUS (WART)
This Wednesday Eco-Group organised a visit from the Warwickshire Amphibian & Reptile Team (WART) who gave a fantastic, informative and engaging assembly. They described the types of amphibians we are likely to see, showed us pictures of the largest ,'The Goliath', and the smallest toad, and explained the importance of conserving amphibians and reptiles. They also explained what the children could do to help conserve these animals and their habitats and what to do if they come across one on or near the road.
Eco-Group also shared their colourful posters with the rest of the school, that they have worked hard on creating and will be put up soon.
