Attendance Matters
The Department for Education recognises that school
attendance is central to raising standards in education and ensuring all pupils can fulfil their potential. Missing out on lessons can leave children vulnerable to falling behind and
those with poor attendance tend to achieve less in both primary and secondary school. As a maintained school, we are required to report monthly attendance figures so we track the %s each week and celebrate the class that has achieved the highest level of attendance in our weekly Celebration Assembly.
Support for Parents: The Department have produced a leaflet which you might want to take a look at: ATTENDANCE MATTERS - A PARENTS GUIDE
Well done Class 3 for last weeks success!
Class 1 | 90% |
Class 2 | 95.22% |
Class 3 | 97.95% |
Class 4 | 91.88% |
Teams4U: Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
Last Friday, Bob from Teams4U, came in to give the children an assembly on their Christmas Show box appeal. The children were capitvated and asked many thoughtful questions about the scheme and the children who will receive their boxes.
Thank you for your support and sending your boxes into school. Bob will be coming into school to collect the shoeboxes some time this Monday so if have them still at home, you have this weekend to finish them up!
Class 4 have had a really busy couple of weeks! Take a look below to see what they've got up to.
Sharing Assembly: The Victorians
Celebrating their learning on this terms topic - The Victorians Era - Class 4 took to the stage to present a wide variety of personalities in their 'Sharing Assembly' last week. They learnt their lines well, spent time researching and preparing their character and delivered the introductions beautifully.
We were treated to a great assembly in which we not only learnt about famous Victorians but also that we have a natural 'Theatre Darling' in our midst, in the form of Mr Young! We can't wait for the Summer production and look forward to him treading the boards alongside his class!
Bikeability
Today, Year 6, began their two day Bikeability Course (new school Cycling Proficiency). They were all wrapped up warm and raring to go this morning and requesting hot chocolates by break time ;-)
Trip to KES: Digital Workshop
"We had a brilliant trip to KES, we couldn't believe it- we all had our OWN computers!! We spent time making a Scratch game where it would choose a random number that you guess and it was great fun but the best part was when we coded our own robots and contolled them moving and turning around. I hope we go again."
Henry, Roving Reporter, Year 6
Trip to the Black Country Museum: 13th December
To consolidate their learning on the Victorian era Class 4 are lucky enough to be off on another school trip this term...to the Black Country Museum on the 13th of December. The below letter will be coming home with the children tonight and, for the first time ever, you can PROVIDE YOUR CONSENT ONLINE BY COMPLETING THIS FORM: CLASS 4 Trip: Black Country Museum ONLINE CONSENT FORM. We still kindly ask for voluntary donations to be sent into the school office - until we launch an online payment system.
-----------
Dear All,
Ref: Year 5 & 6 trip to the Black Country Museum: Thursday 13th of December.
As you saw recently during our ‘Sharing Assembly’, Class 4 has been learning about, and embracing, the Victorian era this term! To consolidate their learning and bring the topic even more to life I have decided to take them on a day trip to the Black Country Museum, Birmingham.
It promises to be a really factual, fun-filled and busy day that will consist of a:
- Guided tour around the museum
- Victorian school workshop
- Detective tour – exploring the lives of two Victorian school children
Children should wear school uniform and a warm coat, bring a packed lunch, and be in school by 08:45AM to ensure that we can leave by coach promptly at 9:00AM. We will be returning to school by 3:15-3:30PM.
FOSS has generously agreed to pay a third of the costs and we kindly ask you for a voluntary contribution of £10 per child, to help cover the cost of entrance, the workshops and a small donation to the coach costs. Unfortunately, if we do not receive enough contributions the trip will be unable to go ahead.
Thank you. Yours sincerely,
Mr Young
National Roast Dinner Day was celebrated in schools around the country and we took this opportuity to open our doors to parents, offering them the chance to sample our healthy school dinners and enjoy eating a roast dinner with the children.
We've had really great feedback from all those that attended, except for just one family, and will be opening our doors again in the New Year to offer another opportunity to dine in school.
Children in Need
Thank you again for your kind donations and scrummy cakes that you sent in to school. Your generous support helped School Council raise
the most money we have ever raised for Children in Need!!
A whopping £291.95!!!!
- Dress up Day £102
- Cake Sale Day 1 £84.20
- Cake Sale Day 2 £105.75
Thank you from the School Council
Next week, School council will be launching a school-wide competition...to design a logo for our School Council that encapsulates our school and its creed. More information to come....School Council will review all entrants and decide on the winning design.
As part of their English lessons this week Class 2 have learnt how to write instructions and based them around theirChristmas Decorations bake!
The wonderful mosaics are all grouted (thank you Mrs Jayne Lucas) and will soon be hung up for display in Class 2s outside area - pop along and have a look.
Snitterfield Nursery are running a toy tombola store at the Christmas Fayre and would welcome any spare toys to be able to include on their stall.
If you could have a rummage and drop any toys you have that are suitable into Nursery, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
